Good Friday, holiday shoppers!! It’s the busiest shopping day of the year and the weather is looking seasonably chilly, but pleasant. As we get deeper into the holiday weekend, we find the threat for a little bit of ugly coming to wrap things up on Sunday. That may even include a bit of flake action for some.
Temps today range from the low 40s in the north to 50-55 in the south with a mix of sun and clouds. Saturday’s numbers look to show a similar spread as some clouds return during the afternoon and evening.
Those clouds are ahead of another system working across the region Sunday and Sunday night. This brings chilly showers from west to east Sunday with the chance for some Sunday night and Monday morning snowflakes across the eastern half of the state.
The NAM only goes through 7am Monday, but you can see the a few flakes showing up on the future radar. This animation goes from 7pm Sunday through 7am Monday…
The Canadian model also shows the chance for some of those flakes to fly as that cold northwest flow locks in. The latest run of the model follows that up with some flakes on Tuesday as another weak system dives in from the northwest…
That’s a healthy cold blast coming from Monday through Wednesday with wind chills dropping into the low and mid teens by Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
From here, we focus on a transitory pattern to start December. One system works our way with some rain Friday and Saturday and should be followed up by a stronger system a few days later.
I mentioned how that’s a pattern in transition as significant blocking looks to set up across Greenland and Canada during this time. That forces another deep trough to develop across the eastern half of the country later in the first week of December.
The EURO Ensembles were the first to sniff this out and they continue to show it…
The Control run of the EURO Ensembles, as usual, are more robust…
The other ensembles are now on board with this same look. Here’s the Canadian Ensembles showing that same trough developing…
I will have another update later today. Have a great Friday and take care.
It’s the ensembles, so we’ll see.
