Good Sunday to one and all. It’s not as wet out there today, but it’s still a bit on the ugly side as colder air slowly shows up. This colder weather will also be accompanied by two more systems in the coming days and these may spawn some festive flakes for parts of the region.
Let’s kick this party off with what’s going on out there today. Temps range from the middle 40s to middle 50s with more clouds with morning rains giving way to a lingering shower or two this afternoon.
Here are your radars to follow today’s drops…
The system moving across the state on Monday is small, but actually kind of potent. It will have a band of chilly rains associated with it and there’s the chance for some flakes to mix in right on the northern edge of the heaviest showers.
The Future Radar from the Hi Res NAM shows this well…
The HRRR Future Radar is just very similar…
The flakes show up in the spots of blue on those animations.
A clipper system drops in here late Tuesday into Wednesday and brings gusty showers ahead of it and some snow showers and flakes behind it. As usual, the Canadian has the best chance for some flakes…
The GFS likes the southeastern part of the state…
Wednesday is a blustery and cold day with temps staying in the 30s for many.
The numbers bounce back quickly as we head into Thursday and Friday ahead of a much bigger storm system arriving this weekend. This system may have gusty winds and thunder ahead of it, with cold and some winter behind it. The models are certainly showing this potential…

Here’s the EURO for the same time has an absolute monster of a storm…
Believe it or not, that look is something that first started showing up a few days ago on the new AI model known as GraphCast. I only have it through very crude looking maps, but this is what it shows for the track of the low next weekend…
This is our first system of interest to track, so far.
Another update comes your way later today, so check back. Have a great day and take care.
Thanks Chris. The weather Model AI GraphCast sounded interesting to me, so I took the liberty of looking it up to learn more about this more accurate way of weather forecasting. Here’s the link :
