Good evening, folks. We are rolling into a milder setup for the rest of the week and this looks to take us into Christmas weekend. Beyond that, the pattern changes toward much more of a wintry one to close out the year and begin 2024.

Let’s focus on this post-Christmas pattern change.

The models continue to put a pretty healthy block across Canada, allowing for big upper level systems to roll underneath it across the USA…

Those types of systems can crank out some big winter weather makers where they set up, but figuring that out is a work in progress. The latest GFS shows rain for Christmas with winter systems spinning around those big upper level lows through the closing days of the year…

The EURO doesn’t go out as far, but has a similar look…

Again, winter weather fans will have to wait until the second half of next week into New Year’s weekend for any potential threats.

This pattern wants to lock in through early January on the GFS Ensembles…
