Good evening, folks. We continue to track a storm system moving in this weekend and it’s likely to bring a wintry mix of rain and snow to our part of the world. That will then be followed up by a big time storm with rain, wind and snow next week.
Speaking of snow, we have a few flakes across the southeast this evening as that southern system passes by. A weak cold front is also dropping in tonight with a few flurries or a light snow shower across the southeast.
Here are your radars to follow any flakeā¦
Nothing has really changed with the weekend storm system as we see rain and snow moving in Friday night and early Saturday. The window to put some slushy snow on the ground is Saturday morning with the greatest risk in the area I’m highlighting in the BEST SNOW CHANCE…
This is not going to be a snowstorm and a lot of the state won’t even see snow on the ground as they get in on more rain than anything else.
If you’re a snow lover, you’re cheering on the EURO as it has a thumper snow for some…
The GFS is a little north of earlier runs…
The Short Range Canadian looks more like the EURO, but it has what looks like a bogus band of snow in the southeast…
The NAM went from nothing to, at least, seeing some very light stuff…
The average of the 51 members of the EURO Ensembles are a little more enthusiastic…
The Control Run of the EURO ENSEMBLES is the most excited about snow chances…
I’ll be putting out a First Call For Snowfall later tonight.
The storm system coming from late Monday through Wednesday still looks like it can start as a mix before going over to heavy rain and then to snow…
Winds are a major player with this system and could push 40mph or greater at times.
I’ll see you guys with the latest on WKYT News at 10 on the CW Lexington and on WKYT at 11. Enjoy the evening and take care.
Thanks CB!
On the positive side, getting heavy wet snow would mean power outages, so being in the fringe areas for snow totals does not seem that bad.
on the positive side, we don’t have to have any snow at all. Could just be mudding the rest of the winter. This seems to be the plan going forward anyway.
Stayed out of the woods today, close by the wood stove. Looking out the window at whatever falls from the sky is OK with me on chilly, wet winter days. Plenty of wood and reading materials.
Well boo, same old stupid “warm wedge” showing up again…no snow for us in the Kanawha Valley. I swear it wasnt like this when I was growing up, something is different.
