Have a great day and take care.
Another disappointing storm!
This from NWS Paducah: Not looking good for Western KY:
.UPDATE…
ISSUED AT 1050 AM CDT SUN MAR 24 2013
HAVE UPDATED THE FORECAST TO PUSH BACK THE ONSET OF ACCUMULATING
SNOWS…AND TIME THE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WITH SOME SLEET/HAIL
POTENTIAL EASTWARD ACROSS THE AREA THROUGH EARLY AFTERNOON…AHEAD
OF THE SNOW.
THE 12Z NAM AND GFS BOTH TAKE THE UPPER LOW ON A PATH FARTHER
NORTH ACROSS THE AREA…SOMEWHERE IN THE VICINITY OF HIGHWAY 13
ACROSS SOUTHERN ILLINOIS. OBSERVED SURFACE 3 HOUR PRESSURE FALLS
INDICATE THAT THE SURFACE LOW WILL FOLLOW A SIMILAR PATH. BOTH OF
THESE TRENDS CAST SOME DOUBT ON THE ADVISORY AND POSSIBLY EVEN THE
WARNING THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.
HAVE ADJUSTED THE GRIDS TOWARD THE NEW REALITY…BUT WILL NOT
MAKE ANY DRASTIC CHANGES TO THE HEADLINES AT THIS TIME. WOULD
PREFER TO WAIT UNTIL THE OBSERVATIONS REALLY MAKE IT OBVIOUS
BEFORE GIVING UP ON ANY PORTION OF THE ADVISORY.
Like clock work: Storms go north as they approach. That’s the reality of Kentucky weather. What happened to the storm track moving south as winter progresses? Not any more. Meh!
Just another weak storm dying over ky with mostly cold rain and some back side dustings coming Monday and maybe Tuesday!
I hope this is winters last failing try at snow! SPRING WAKEUP!!
I hate living in ky….
Why not? Get within 24 hours and moved from 4-8 to maybe an inch. I have held out hope all winter. It’s time for spring!
Drop that less than 1″ out of WV then. I’m under Winter Storm Warning for 10-16″ lol.
Hey,
Thats weird how wv was getting 4-8 inches to less then 1 inch, whats up here???? Whos more accurate.
It’s been pouring heavy wet snow with temperature of 30 degrees since 1pm, there’s already close to 3″ on the ground. The winter storm warning started at noon today and continues until Tuesday for all elevations. Not sure what Chris is seeing here to say less than an inch lol.
But this is a Kentucky weather forum and not West Virginia.
But this is Kentucky weather and not West Virginia.
Who gives a rip about WV weather. Why don’t we start having people from the North Pole chime in also. You are plain annoying Woody. Why don’t you shut your yap the rest if winter or spring and start a WV blog. You only come across as pompous and arrogant.
Do you think Mason WV will get on an advisory ?
Your awfully rude Ben
Ugh.
Andy, Do you think Mason Wv will be on an advisory ?
no clue you need to send a message to your local NWS since they issue them
How do you? I’m on my local one. What do you click ?
Someone is a little mad about the weather. lolol 🙂
gallipolis ohio along us rt 35, mix of sleet and snow
I’m visiting Bowling Green with my gf. Warren County now under severe t-storm warning. Lot’s of thunder. Pea to marble size hail now covering the ground!
Then tonight when I’m headed back to Nashville, I’ll probably be driving through snow 😉
Do like me: Don’t believe any of it until AFTER it has happened. The models, for winter weather weather more than a day out, are simply lousy. They aren’t re-calibrated for reality or, if they are, they are even worse. (Think about it…)
gallipolis ohio ,,,1445 all snow, bailey!
I predict nothing but cold rain for 99% of the state. Not going to get cold enough or snow heavy enough. No snow days tomorrow.
Yet another day of 40 degrees and rain. Enough of this so called “winter”. Hoping for some warm, DRY, spring days here in Kenova!
Please use this for next winter: Unless an event actually pans out, hold as much stock in the models for snow as you would for Enron stock or any other virtual pyramid scheme.
The trend is what it is until the results change it. Believe it when it happens. Perhaps THEN we can start trusting models again for snow.
Whats even funnier, is that if it had been cold enough to snow, we would had been dry slotted.
temp was 38 deg when we got up this morn dropped to 36 deg and has stayed there all day! Had a good rain abt all day! We went from the 2 – 4 inches of snow to less then an inch! : ( Wonder if we will get anything out of the Monday night snow!!!!!!!!
With each one I read…I am sensing a lot of negativity in the comments here….I’m realizing a lot of people are going to eat their words if they maintain that sentiment…then they will be complaining about the 3-5 inches of late season snow we do receive. If you want to see snow, patience folks…it will happen tonight-tuesday…PATIENCE PAYS!!!
LoL silly rabbit
Well, it’s good to see a little positive outlook on here but I’m 99% sure that I will not eat my words when I say there will be very little measurable accumulation tonight through Tuesday….not gonna happen and even if it does, it will be one of those nuisanse dusting to 1″ snows. Nothing here to see folks…..move along.
North of I64 maybe, but that sentiment and one dollar south of I64- will get you one dollar.
BTW, your points conflict with your previous trust of trends from a few months ago. Considering the trend has held very steady, there is no directional change to facilitate such a change in heart 😉
that giant donut hole in the radar looks real familiar for KY snow chances, but hey it is spring so any snow at all is no longer welcome in my book!
Thunder and lightning, raining last 10 mins northern clay co. Just north highway 421/highway 11 towards onida
Wow. The whining never stops on here.
Not whining- winning! 🙂
Need 1.7 inches out of this to match our seasonal average in Lexington. I think this is the last one of the year, so time for it to happen!
would that be for winter though? or does snow average mean for anytime of year?
For the winter season–say October-April.
would like to have some imput or reasoning…its been one of the most wettest winters i can remember in form as rain…i dont think we have 1-2 inches combined all year..but yet its probably has been an average to tad below average temperatures. west of kentucky has been hammered with snow..the snows ride over top kentucky along the ohio river =..come back down just east of kentucky where virginia and west virginia east tennessee have been hammered and in the middle is kentucky in 45 degree rain..can an expert have some input to how that always happens..i mean oklahoma..arkansas..texas..miss..alabama has more snow than kentucky..im so sick of all this rain
I have actually been impressed by the returns from the radar in the Saint Louis area all day. We in the Louisville Lex and Frankfort market still have a chance of a small surprise.
Well we have had an inch and a half or rain lets see if my prediction is true we will have more rain than snow
lost in moderation i guess that time. i got a storm report for you chris if i can ever get it to you.
waiting for Louisville’s 1-2″….
Ground is covered and we have been having waves of heavy snow off and on this evening. Northern Kentucky IS getting snow. 🙂
-Burlington, KY
Rain wind and small hail I devils creek as well as barbourville
Thanks goodness Indiana and Ohio stole the snow.. I hate snow and so thankful that Kentucky winters are growing snowless and snowless each year… Gotta love global warming… Bring on spring and warm temps!!!!
You are super cereal… ManBearPig would be so proud 😉
Hey, I guess we can call the camera links, raincams 🙂
Gonna try it again. About 7:10 wind was so strong here in northwest clay co I thought a tornado went over. Lasted about 5 to 8 mins. Heavyiest wind here in last several years. Scanner reported tree down in garrad community on south 421 near save a lot. Also some reports of wind causing some burlar alarms to go off up towards downtown manchester. Winds I felt was at 7:10pm. Laurel heights, just nort of junction of us421/highway 11 going towards onieda.
The nexus of no snow continues to rotate directly over Greenup Co. Unreal….
