Good evening, everyone. Dangersouly cold temps are in the region right now and will continue into early Wednesday. From there, we track another winter storm with another blast of bitter cold coming in behind it for the weekend.
A Wind Chill Advisory is out for central and eastern Kentucky through early Wednesday…
Let’s review tonight’s cold:
- Temps this afternoon stay in the teens with wind chills from 5 to -5.
- A few snow showers and flurries will be noted from time to time.
- With a snowpack and clearing skies tonight, temps will plummett.
- Lows range from -7 to +5 across much of the state. There’s the chance for some cold valleys in the east to reach -10.
- Wind chills from -5 to -15 will be common. -20 wind chills can’t be ruled out in the east and southeast at times.
- Frozen pipes and power outages are possible.
I have no changes to the Winter STORM THREAT from Thursday through Friday night…
The models are now going toward this potential and match up pretty well with the aera I’m highlighting, but there are still some subtle differences.
Here’s the GFS…
And the EURO…
The ICON is the most robust…
Bitter cold follows for the weekend.
My server update is in progress, so if anything is wonky, that’s why.
Have a great evening and take care.
Thanks Chris it sure is a cold one. At lease I got my sidewalk cleaned off today. Dangerous cold is right.
I’m not gonna lie, that snow forecast makes me smile. But yes, this cold is nasty and I hope everyone can stay safe and warm. Thanks Chris!
