Good evening, folks. We continue to watch rain and some wet snow across the area and this has already put down some slush in a few spots. Later tonight, the slush factor really increases across the far southeast.
A Winter Weather Advisory is out for Harlan and Letcher Counties in the southeast. That’s where a few inches of snow will likely fall. Farther north and west, a few snow showers will be possible tonight and early Monday.
All this shows up well on the snow forecast from the NAM…
The next system drops in here Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing some rain and snow showers with it…
Another system drops into the northeastern part of the country by the end of the week into the weekend. That may throw a little cold air in here at the same time a system drops from the plains and heads toward the southeastern US.
That system is likely to stay to our south, but the Canadian is trying to bring it far enough north for some snow…
We shall see how that works out, but I cannot fully discount the idea.
That said, y’all know I’m preaching patience until week two of February. That’s when the pattern goes back into one that can bring a lot of winter weather our way and to much of the country.
This is now getting into the range of the ensembles and they are starting to see what the Weeklies have been showing…
Once that trough gets into the east, it’s going to stick around a while and may roll with us into the first half of March.
I leave you with your radars to track the rain and snows out there this evening…
Enjoy the rest of your day and take care.
It be interesting if the western part of ky gets in the action that we have miss so far this winter in February.
It wouldn’t take much for this drizzle to turn to some snow. A cold evening.
