Good evening, folks. Our dreary late January pattern rolls on and looks to continue for the closing days of the month. We do change it up for the first few days of the new month before a much bigger change toward winter takes place.

A cold front drops in from the northwest Tuesday and Tuesday night, bringing a gusty band of rain and some wet flakes. As this passes through, northwest winds will bring some snow showers and flurries into the region Tuesday night and early Wednesday.

The future radar from the Hi Res NAM shows all this well…

February starts Thursday and will likely bring temps making a run into the 50s. That continues into Friday and Saturday with some REALLY nice weather finally rolling in.

The system working across the deep south then tries to impact our weather with some rain Sunday into early next week.

The Canadian and GFS models are both showing rain working this far north…

We are likely to see another mild spell following that up through the first week and change of the month. The change back to winter, likely to become harsh, comes as we get into week two of February.

The Ensembles are seeing this change with the blocking going up to our north…
