Tuesday Evening Thoughts

Good evening, folks. It’s another ugly day that’s wrapping up across the Commonwealth with one more, mainly, ugly day left in the month. Things change into February as milder air takes control for the first week and change. Beyond that, here comes winter, again!

Scattered showers, drizzle, a touch of sleet, a touch of snow, and all of the above are showing up this evening. Here are your radars to follow along…

Wednesday features a lot of low clouds with some passing flakes. Clouds decrease from southwest to northeast later in the day and through the evening.

This leads us into the 50s for highs Thursday through Saturday with a 60 in the south and west. I will be watching a backdoor cold front dropping in from the northeast. Depending on how far south and west this gets, it may cut into those numbers for parts of the state.

The southern system late this weekend and early next week continues to be a work in progress. It may very well be just far enough north to throw some showers at us later Sunday into Monday.

The Canadian is most consistent with this…

The EURO has waffled around with this but the last run brings a few showers in here…

Temps turn mild once this system pulls out with 60 degree numbers possible next week.

From there, things continue to progress toward a deep trough in the east as blocking goes up from Greenland through the North Pole and hooking up with a ridge along the west coast.

This is something I’ve been trying to drive home for weeks now and this change is within range on the Ensembles and they all see it starting in the second week of February…

It will be interesting to see in our wild weather. Thanks again Mike for the eclipse info always wanted to see a total eclipse my sister is in it in Indiana. Doesn’t it just last 3 or 4 minutes????
