Good Friday to one and all. We have a weak cold front dropping into the region today and it’s bringing a few showers and storms along for the ride. This also knocks the numbers down some for Saturday, but the temps turn super steamy from Sunday into next week.

Temps today are back into the 80s on a gusty southwest wind. Scattered showers and storms develop this afternoon and evening, but this is rather scattered. The threat is there for a few strong storms across central and eastern Kentucky.

Here are your radars…

Cooler and drier air comes in behind this and that makes for one awesome day of weather on Saturday. Highs from 80-85 with low humidity levels will be common across much of the state…

Temps on Sunday rebound into the 85-90 degree range for many with 90 or a little better in the west. That’s also where higher humidity levels will be, making it feel much toastier than the rest of the state.

The NAM says the far west may feel like 100 with MUCH lower numbers for the rest of the state…

The GFS is a little more widespread with the chance for 100 heat index in the west but is also much lower everywhere else…

The pattern then turns VERY steamy next week, but just how steamy depends on any afternoon or evening showers and storms going up. Days that feature these storms see temps only in the upper 80s to right around 90. Days with a more sun and less storms reach 90-95. Humidity levels will make it feel hotter, obviously. Heat Index values from 95-100 will be common with the chance for those numbers to go higher on any given day with more sun.

The core of the heat will be north of us into the northern Ohio Valley, Great Lakes and into New England.

The GFS Ensembles for a 7 day average isn’t nearly to the degree as the EURO and Canadian Ensembles…

The GFS Model continues to throw the best chances for showers and storms our way from Sunday night through next Friday…

There’s a lot of tropical moisture down in the Gulf and the National Hurricane Center continues to increase the chances for something tropical to fire up…

Get ready for a wild hurricane season, folks.

Make it a great Friday and take care.
