Good Friday evening everyone. It’s a chilly start to our Christmas weekend and we even have a few sprinkles and flurries to kick things off. This isn’t a big deal, but it’s making it FEEL like it should for this time of year. That’s a start!
There are no changes to the holiday weekend weather. The storm that we had been targeting for Christmas Day into Monday is going to end up being a day late. It will hit our region late Monday into Tuesday with rain and a likely mix or switch to wet snow for some.
Here is your model roundup…
NAM Monday Night
GFS
European Model
It’s a very active pattern taking shape for the next few weeks and we will likely see several storm systems taking aim at the region. Any storm that really amplifies will need to be watched. Many of the indicies that have been killing us this early winter are becoming much more conducive to winter weather. As always… we shall see.
Have a great evening and take care.

A dry Sunday? Yes! What about the wet roads and temps tonight? Do you think there will be some ice in the morning? Merry Christmas to you, your family and the cb bloggers!
so snow monday night.
Vanessa…You really want it to snow don’t you????
No I rather it not.
If the Euro model is correct, the Monday storm would be a hard for me to swallow. It appears that the low would be a perfect path for snow in the Louisville area. It is hard to except that we do not have enough cold air at the end of Dec.
So it just not cold enough.
I’m a snow lover, but deep down I am glad there is no snow storm expected during the traveling days of Christmas. I’d rather have some snow flying and sticking once things calm down and things get back to being more “normal” after the holidays. I’d much rather see safer travel for everyone during the holidays than to see snow piling up on the roadways anyway.
wow new nam looks great, just need to see if the gfs is thinking the same thing. what a differnces a few hours can make, the snow train may be on the tracks, and heading here on Tuesday, chuga chuga
what time is late monday.
Folks, mark this post for slamming if wrong, but this winter will probably be one of the wimpiest Winters in decades.
Looks like central KY will go another year without a big one. 1998 was a long time ago.
We may see a few ankle biters, but do not be surprised if the big event we see is mix and ice.
For about the, oh how many times have we gone over this? Seriously people, winter started Wednesday!!!!!! Lighten up. It doesn’t end until March 22nd or somewhere around that. Dont give up, actually, QUIT giving up on winter already!!!!! At some point all of that cold air in Canada has to go somewhere, and that may eventually set us up for some type of winter storm. Develop patience, its a virtue…
Call it “accumulative letdown syndrome”, the further you get to the center of the state. To quote the great Led Zeppelin, “Been a long time since we rock and rolled”.
