Good Tuesday, everybody. Our active weather pattern continues as another big rain maker rolls in here later Wednesday and Thursday. This is another soaking rain across the entire commonwealth. Looking farther down the road, I continue to see the chance for some winter weather before Thanksgiving.
Let’s start things out with the more typical air we have out there today. Highs are in the 50s with a gusty northerly wind as skies stay partly sunny.
Low pressure rolls from the Plains states into the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley Wednesday into Thursday. This brings rounds of heavy rain across Kentucky during this time with leftover showers lingering into early Friday…
Widespread soaking rains are likely with some areas possibly seeing 2″ or more of rain out of this. Here’s a sample of some of the model forecasts…
Highs on Thursday and Friday are in the low and middle 50s.
The weekend looks mainly dry with seasonable temps showing up.
Ok, this is where the pattern starts to take on a very interesting look for the week before and leading up to Thanksgiving. We are likely to see major blocking going up from Greenland across Canada, spawning a deep storm system rolling from the plains into the east.
At the same time, believe it or not, there’s the chance for a tropical system to be spinning around in the Gulf of Mexico. This system tries to get going in the next few days in the Caribbean…
As mentioned, this overall look of next week is likely to get pretty wild. We have significant blocking across Canada as that huge slow-moving system spins from the Plains into the east as a tropical feature threatens. Check out the upper level anomalies from the GFS…
The Ensembles have been seeing this winter potential for some time now and they continue to deepen this trough…
EURO ENSEMBLES
GFS ENSEMBLES
In terms of the chance for some flakes or out and out snows, the ENSEMBLES are also seeing that…
I like the odds for some winter weather around here before we get to Thanksgiving.
Make it a great day and take care.
Thanks Chris. Hoping that your predictions for Thanksgiving week pan out. That would put everyone in the Holiday Sprit. I checked the latest run in the Tropics, and it’s showing another major Hurricane hitting the west coast of Florida. If this horrible event occurs, I think my Sister, Brother in law, and my niece will move back North. They have had enough !
Have a Great Day Everyone !
