Good evening, everyone. Our weekend is off and running on a very dreary and chilly note with gusty showers of rain and a touch of snow across the eastern half of the state. While the weekend weather looks better, the stage is set for a really cold and active setup for the Thanksgiving weekend and beyond.

Misty showers are out there across central and eastern Kentucky as the flakes continue to fly across the high mountains along the Virginia border.

Here are your radars to watch everything that’s out there…

Clouds will be slow to break across the central and east for Saturday, keeping temps in the 40s again. The west and far south will be much better.

Sunday still looks good with temps in the 50s and the chance for some low 60s ahead of a Monday cold front. That front brings seasonably cold air behind it for Tuesday with gusty showers buffering the temp swing…

This boundary then hangs around the region through Wednesday and Thanksgiving. This is when a storm system cranks and rolls along this boundary, bringing the chance for rain and snow with it Thanksgiving Day with some snow showers or light snow possible behind it for Black Friday.

We have the Canadian and EURO models in pretty good agreement with this…

The GFS was the first model to show this potential, but we are in the window where the GFS completely loses systems and it now has no system whatsoever at any point over the long Thanksgiving weekend. If you recall, it had the recent snow maker then totally lost it for a few days before finding it again.

Cold air comes in behind that departing system for the rest of the weekend with the potential for another storm system showing up to end November and start December. This will likely be on the leading edge of arctic air.

The Canadian has a good look at this…

That brings in some REALLY cold air for much of the country as we close out November and go into the first week of December. The Ensembles have been all over this for a long time and they continue to be frigid…

Enjoy the rest of your Friday and take care.
