Good afternoon, everyone. Our latest round of light snow is slowly pushing out of eastern Kentucky as we turn our focus to a big time arctic front arriving Wednesday night. This brings in brutal wind chills, gusty winds and another round of flakes.

Winds ahead of this system are going to absolutely crank Wednesday into Wednesday night. Gusts between 40mph and 50mph will show up. The NAM fam and the HRRR are seeing the potential for those 50mph gusts…

Whew boy… That will rearrange your Christmas decorations fairly efficiently.

Rain showers develop ahead of the front with snow showers and a few snow squalls developing behind it Wednesday night and Thursday morning. The HRRR Future Radar shows these well…

So does the Hi Res NAM…

Even the more choppy and less refined future radar from the NAM…

With temps dropping into the teens, we will have to watch for a quick freeze up.

With the tanking temps and strong winds, wind chills will be brutally cold Thursday morning with the chance for the numbers to go below zero across the northern half of Kentucky. The HRRR is showing this…

So is the Hi Res NAM…

Wind chills stay in the teens on Thursday before returning to the single digits Friday morning.

The pattern eases this weekend with more back and forth coming to start next week. I warned you the models would struggle with the upcoming pattern and they are all showing completely different solutions from one run to the next.

I think the latest Canadian is on to something next week as it reestablishes the blocking and forces a big trough back into the country…

That may come with a healthy couple of storm systems, too.

I’ll see y’all back here for another update this evening. Have a great day and take care.
