Good Tuesday to one and all. We actually have some nice weather blowing into the region today, but you had better enjoy it because it won’t last long. Another big rain system rolls in tonight and Wednesday with some winter weather coming in behind it later in the week and weekend.

Our day starts with clouds and ends with some sun as temps head back into the upper 40s to middle 50s for many. Clouds will quickly return this evening with showers and some thunderstorms rolling back in here tonight and those hang around into Wednesday. Another corridor of 1″-2″ rains may show up during this time…

Temps spike toward the 60s early Wednesday with a big drop through the 40s coming in quickly from the northwest through Wednesday afternoon and through the 30s during the evening. With gusty winds, it’s going to feel much colder.

This wind chill animation goes from 8am to 11pm Wednesday…

There’s still the chance for some Thursday morning flurries in the wake of our departing system.

From here, we track a clipper dropping in from the northwest. This brings a nice shot of cold air behind it and sets the stage for some winter weather. We should get an area of light snow and flurries across central and eastern Kentucky sometime on Friday. As a cold northwest wind kicks in behind that Friday night and Saturday, some snow showers and flurries should impact these same areas. I can’t rule out some light accumulations during this time, especially of Lake Michigan can get involved.

We are in the time frame where the Canadian Model has dominated all other models on snow systems this winter and it’s looking to do it again. Here’s what it’s showing From Friday

You can see the light accumulations from this model run…

The EURO is starting to see a little more flake action with each run…

The GFS is still lost with the setup but should see something soon. The GFS Ensembles are picking up on some light stuff for central and eastern Kentucky…

The UKMET also shows the chance for a light snowfall Friday into Saturday…

The Canadian is showing the weekend colder than normal numbers coming in with the flake action…

The system coming in for Christmas Eve and Day is likely in liquid form, but the Canadian is close…

Much milder air comes in behind this with above normal temps likely through much of the final week of the year. I wouldn’t be surprised to be dealing with a round of strong to severe thunderstorms at some point.

Look for that milder pattern to break in a big way right around the New Year with the increasing potential for a frigid and snowy January to follow.

Updates coming later in the day. Until then, we have you all set to track the next round of rain in from the southwest…

Have a terrific Tuesday and take care.
