Good Wednesday, everyone. It’s a pretty wild weather day across Kentucky as a potent storm system rumbles through with heavy rain, thunderstorms, falling temps with a few flurries to follow. This leads us into another wintertime setup that will bring some light snows and snow showers.

Let’s begin with today. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are out there this morning, and these are putting down a tremendous amount of rain for many. This may lead to local high water issues for a few areas, especially across the southern half of the state.

This is also a part of the state that may see a few strong thunderstorms. There’s the outside chance for one of these storms going severe…

The rain pulls out of the area from northwest to southeast this afternoon as cold winds take over. Temps this morning will reach the 60s in the south and southeast with readings in the upper 30s and low 40s in the north.

The cold air takes control quickly and you can see that in the wind chill forecast numbers from 7 this morning through 11 this evening….

A few snow flurries then kick in overnight into early Thursday. Those show up on the Hi Res NAM…

Our clipper drops into the Ohio Valley Friday and brings a period of light snow and snow showers with it. That’s especially true across central and eastern Kentucky during the afternoon and evening. That northwest wind will continue into Saturday and that’s usually good for some snow showers and flurries.

It took a while, but the models are seeing this more and more as we get closer, but it’s the Canadian family leading the way…

Light accumulations will be possible during this time. Light being the key word on the models…

Very cold air pours in here for the weekend as arctic winds knock the wind chills way down there. This goes from 7am to 7pm Friday…

There’s another system moving our way by Christmas Eve into Christmas Day and this continues to look more like a light rain maker than anything else…

The pattern turns mild for a few days right after Christmas and could even bring a big round of thunderstorms at some point. I’ve been highlighting a change back to winter right around the New Year and we are seeing the EURO Ensembles going toward a huge ridge on the west coast and a developing trough in the east as we close the year and begin 2025…

I’ll have updates later today. Until then, I have all the tracking tools you need to follow today’s wild weather…

Make it a wonderful Wednesday and take care.
