Good afternoon, everyone. Our cold weekend before Christmas continues as we gear up for some big changes into Christmas week. Those changes are ahead of even bigger changes as we flip the calendar to 2025. A harsh winter pattern is lurking.

A few flakes continue to fly across eastern Kentucky and those may continue into early Sunday.

Temps rebound on Monday ahead of a light rain maker moving in here Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. This isn’t washout stuff, but it can get a little damp from time to time…

Temps reach the 50s for the second half of next week into the start of the final weekend of the year. We need to watch this period for a storm system that can bring some pretty big thunderstorms in here before temps crash.

A major pattern change starts around New Year’s Eve and really kicks into high gear for the first week of January. I’ve been on this possibility for a few weeks now and confidence continues to grow for a VERY cold pattern that can bring a lot of snow chances our way.

The EURO WEEKLIES have been advertising this consistently for a while with the various ensembles seeing this now that they are within range. The operational models are jumping in headfirst as well. The GFS shows the massive blocking I’ve talked about going up from the west coast to Alaska, across the North Pole then toward Greenland. The end result is a massive trough digging in under all that…

All the Ensembles keep the strong signature…

I’ll have your full update late tonight. Until then, here are your radars to track any remaining flakes in the east…

Have a great Saturday and take care.
