Good afternoon, everyone. It’s a springtime looking and feeling day in the Bluegrass state as we get set for heavy rain, high winds and strong storms later tonight into Sunday. This will be followed up by winter taking control of the pattern as we hit 2025.

The wind potential tonight and early Sunday remains pretty stout as the models continue to indicate gusts topping 50mph in some areas of, especially, central Kentucky. Take a look at the peak wind gust forecasts from the models…

The Storm Prediction Center continues to highlight the Marginal Risk for severe storms across eastern Kentucky on Sunday…

I think we have to watch for that threat all the way back into central Kentucky.

The system rolling in behind this brings gusty showers and falling temps for New Year’s Eve. This colder air means the chance for a few flurries and snow showers on New Year’s Day with a light snow maker coming in behind that by Thursday night and Friday.
