Good Thursday afternoon, everyone. The severe thunderstorm threat has come to an end across our part of the world. The nasty weather is slowly being replaced by some of the good stuff for the next few days.
Highs Friday and Saturday will hit the upper 70s and low 80s under partly to mostly sunny skies. Humidity levels will come way down during this time.
The threat for showers and thunderstorms gets back in here by late Sunday and that kicks into high gear for early next week. That’s when a cold front moves our way:
That may spawn rounds of strong storms and bring more heavy rains back into the state.
A full update comes later tonight. Have a great rest of the day and take care.
good work last nit . tx cb
Chris you said severe weather and we got it, NWS down played it and lost, good job Chris!
Never saw a drop of rain, a bolt of lightening or really many clouds so not sure that they played it down, especially here in Louisville. I’m hoping we do get some heavy rain next week as things are drying out very quickly here in town. I’ve had a half inch of rain in the past two and a half weeks and we’re on the verge of mentioning the D word.
Strongest winds from yesterday seem to have been around the Wabash Indiana area. NWS survey team estimating straight-line winds of 90-100 mph. We can thank our lucky stars this time, even if we did have a few problems like some downed trees and power lines.
Last year’s big derecho caused over a dozen fatalities. Let’s hope this recent system has done far less, although at least one death so far (a small child in Virginia from a fallen tree 🙁 ).
Just returned back to Kentucky. Had to hide in a tunnel at BWI airport due to a tornado warning for 30 minutes today.
