Good Saturday and welcome to the last completely dry day for a while. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms will be on the move over the next few days. This is basically a continuation of the weather pattern we’ve been in over the past few months.
Temps today will top out in the low and middle 80s under partly to mostly sunny skies. Some high clouds will work in as the day wears on as tops of thunderstorms to our northwest are blown off and show up around here. These thunderstorms will begin to impact our weather on Father’s Day as another system works in. Those showers and storms will increase into early next week…
Locally heavy rainfall and some strong storms will be possible during this time. The GFS shows a heck of a swath of rain with this low…
You can see on the previous map how our temps remain fairly pleasant into the middle of the week as another cool shot works across the Great Lakes and into the northeast.
That same cool shot will be there through the end of the week with the heat ridge hanging out well to our southwest. That means rounds of showers and thunderstorms may be lurking in between…
The overall setup across North America continues to be very anomalous. Check out what’s going on across Canada and just off the northwestern coast of the states…
It’s hard to get any big heat ridges across the eastern half of the country with that type of setup.
Have a great Saturday and take care.
Never heard of the saying of “swath of rain.” When I read swath, I immediately thought of snow. I guess it’s natural (to me.)
So how much longer will this pattern last? It seems like we’ve been in it forever. Lol I am not complaining at all. As long as the severe weather holds at bay. I’m okay with some old fashioned thunderstorms. 🙂
No heat ridge sounds good to me…
I really hope this pans out as it’s just bone dry out there. Starting to see lawns turn brown, plants wilt and trees look a bit stressed and it’s only the middle of June.
Frankfort has had good rains of about 2 inches in the last week, but I have noticed the moles loving life in my yard this year, I’ve heard dry weather would slow them down, one good thing!
I’m at just under half an inch for the month of June. The last big rain was Memorial Day Weekend. From what I gather, the dry area stretches from about 30 miles north of Louisville down to E-Town and then into Shelby County. Really, really hope we get a few inches of the good wet stuff.
