Good Wednesday, everyone. Much better winds are blowing across the commonwealth of Kentucky today. Cooler air and lower humidity levels are making for a great mid June day. Unfortunately, the very warm and humid will push back in over the next few days and that means a serious case of tropical weather is on the way.
Highs today will warm to around 80 degrees with partly sunny skies. That’s the good news.
The bad news is a little more humidity works in for Thursday as temps head back into the low and mid 80s. From there… it’s mid to upper 80s from Friday through the weekend and into next week. The occasional 90 degree temp will be possible… especially in the west.
Scattered thunderstorms will become a daily concern during this same time…
This is a pattern that will remain rather tropical into the last of the month and into early July.
I promised you guys a look at what some of the seasonal models are pointing to as we roll into fall and winter. Here’s what the NASA model says for the fall…
That’s a chilly look for the fall for the eastern half of the country with warmth out west. The CFS model says much of the country is near normal…![]()
That same model then turns cold for the first month of winter…
I will be showing more seasonal models in the coming weeks. They are always fun to look at… especially during the slow days of summer.
Make it a great day and take care.
I may not leave a comment very often but I do read your forecast every day. We can’t receive your tv version but wanted you to know we are faithful readers of your forecasts. I just wish eastern kentucky didn’t have to listen to WVA. If you are on cable you have Lexington stations, satellite no. Not fair at all
If you go to wkyt.com, you can watch Chris via livestream. Just click the “live” icon during regular newscasts. I do this from time to time even though I like several of the local Nashville tv mets. CB is the man!
It appears the threat for multiple days of 90 degree weather is right on track with the past few summers. Here are the total 90 degree days through June 19, through the end of June, and then finally the total for the summer.
2013: 1, ?, ?
2012: 3, 13, 42
2011: 5, 6, 30
2010: 1, 8, 44
2009: 1, 4, 6
Interesting, wonder where we’ll end up this year?
I think above 2009 but well below 2010, 2011, and 2012. I’ll guess 20.
looking forward 2 more cold rain.
That is what has happened lately, until the Bubba buster happens it is what it is sadly in a normal KY winter!
