Good Monday and welcome to the last week of June. The weather of late has certainly been feeling the part with toasty temps, high humidity and scattered storms. This week will feature more of the same, but the storm threat will be on the increase and that may lead to some big boomers at times.
The action today is likely to be a bit more widespread than what we’ve had over the past weekend. These storms will be torrential rain producers and I am just waiting on some of them to open up and create flooding somewhere. In addition to the heavy rain and lightning… any storm that goes up could be locally strong or severe.
The weather for Tuesday and Wednesday will feature more of the same.
The rounds of storms may try to crank up from Wednesday night through Friday. The models continue to point toward a setup that would bring clusters of high wind producing storms from the northwest…
The severe weather threat will increase during the second half of the week. Those storms should also be big rain and lightning producers.
The pattern then sees a shift to a trough in the east as the heat heads farther west. The European Model has been all over this for some time and it keeps that pattern in place toward Independence Day…
Have a great Monday and take care.
Thanks, Chris. Looks like fun and games this week for sure. Looking at the radar this morning looks like the Louisville area is getting it again with the storms. Seems to have been hanging around that area for the past couple of days.
Yes, it is hot, and muggy. But it is summer, and I am enjoying the warmth. Makes that A/C feel better, and I love going barefoot. So, I will not complain about the heat. The humidity could lessen a bit, though, and that would make it just right! 😉 thanks for all you do, Chris. Have a great MOnday, everyone, if that is possible on Monday…..;)
It is amazing how quickly the hot sun can dry out the ground. I’ve got brown patches all over my lawn in Lawrenceburg and we had some good rain just a few days ago. I do remember though that on July 1st last year my yard was completely brown. I don’t think I mowed for almost a month between mid to late June and mid to late July.
1.74″ of rain yesterday at CVG airport will surely throw off the climate stats at that reporting site. Got to love the randomness of this pattern.
Edit: 1.74″ fell Saturday at KCVG.
Getting started on the action a bit early today. Just had a real nice downpour and looks like they are set to train thru here all day. This time last week I was high and dry watching my lawn turn brown. I’ve since had almost 5 inches of rain.
Thundering and windy in Lawrenceburg. Radar looks promising for some beneficial rain but I’ll believe it when I see it 🙂
Radar has now looked promising for 30 minutes and the thunder has been rolling yet no rain in Lawrenceburg. I guess there is a positive side to this–no rain means no mowing!
Frankfort on the east side just a decent downpour but more bark than bite with the thunder and lightning, maybe a quarter inch if rain, Hopefully more to come?
OF 😉
OK – need some predictions… My family and I will be going on a 10 day road trip next week: KY to Niagara Falls to Boston to Philadelphia, starting next Monday. What should I expect? It is looking like they will be in cool spell. Could be a nice break!
