Good Monday and welcome to July. We’re coming off one heck of a wet June and the new month is starting off with more of the same. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms will continue to blast the bluegrass state. This action will feature juice from the Gulf Of Mexico and that may spell trouble for this holiday week.
Here’s the setup we’re facing this week…
This loaded atmosphere can unload on some areas and we really need to watch the flash flood threat each and every day. 4th of July festivities are going to impacted by these rounds of storms. The GFS 2 week rainfall outlook shows just how wide open the Gulf is…
This pattern shows no signs of letting up as we head through the middle of July. Here’s regional radar to track today’s booming showers and storms…
Temps this week will continue to run cooler than normal with upper 70s to low 80s for highs.
Have a great start to the week and take care.

Dewpoints back in the mid-to-upper 60s again in Madison Co. However, it still enables me to hold off having the central AC fixed, so I’ll take it versus what came before.
Btw, anyone who knows of a reputable service around Madison Co. that actually has experience with older Rheem systems, by all means please post a reply and I’ll look at giving them a call later on. Thanks.
It’s staying pretty Hott here in se ky and very little rain the last few days pretty normal here.guess we got a rain dome
Flash Flood Warning for parts of LaRue, Green and Hart Counties in KY. As the saying goes, Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
Indeed, there are localized flooding issues from Franklin KY to Brandenburg/near Louisville. My fiancée says that an elementary school in Bowling Green has some water in a few rooms.
And as CB mentioned, there’s a lot more rain coming up the pipeline the next several days.
Thanks, Chris. Looks like Mother Nature is going to show her own brand of fireworks this week for some. And not only on the Fourth!..ah well, the way they are shooting them around my neighborhood, can’t see a lot of difference. 😉 We did not get a lot of rain over the weekend, as most of the storms went east or west of us. We did get one good storm, but that was about it. I can see where the humidity is probably going to be ramping up as well. Make sure to stay hydrated if working outside. Just because temps are going to be a bit cooler it doesn’t mean that persons working out in the humidity cant still be affected! Have a great Monday everyone (if a great Monday is possible) 🙂
Central and east KY now in a slight risk for severe thunderstorms later this afternoon, threats are small hail, isolated damaging winds, very dangerous lightning and flash flooding in spots!
Yes. Not only this, the Storm Prediction Center is now considering a Severe T-Storm Watch for eastern parts of KY and TN.
Tornado threat would be rather low as is typical for our area this time of year. Still, there was an EF2 just a few days ago near Hodgenville KY, along with another EF2 west of Franklyn KY about four weeks ago.
The SPC has a 40% chance of a Severe T-Storm Watch even including Lexington but on the edge. You can read the discussion.

Although June was warmer than last year for almost all of Kentucky (doubt me, look up the stats–and if you care to doubt me I will post them) July is going to be much, much cooler. July was one of the hottest on record last year, due to the low June precip. This year that will not be a problem.
