Good Tuesday, folks. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms continue to pound the bluegrass state and those show no sign of letting up. If anything… things may get even more active over the next few days as tropical moisture from the Gulf gets involved.
The main threat this week will be flash flooding. I continue to sound the alarm to the possibility of a cloudburst that can lead to a significant flood threat before the week is over. Much of the state will average 1″-3″ of rain this week and some areas will see a whole lot more than that.
You can see the tropical connection really kicking in over the next few days…
That has all kinds of ugly written on it for the 4th of July festivities. The GFS shows a ton of rain falling through the weekend…![]()
The two week totals continue to show the direct linkage to the Gulf…
Any storm that goes up will also have the potential to produce hail and high winds. Speaking of the storms… happy tracking…
Have a great Tuesday and take care.

As I said before, Mother Nature has her OWN kind of fireworks on tap for the Fourth of July holiday. Sounds like parades may need to have a backup plan for using boats, or canoes to get through.
Chris, we finally did get a little rain yesterday, but most of it still went east of us. So far, we have been getting some rain, but nothing like what other parts of the states have been seeing. Keep thinking our luck is going to run out at some point. Probably on the Fourth. Thanks for keeping us updated, Chris. One question though. how come we don’t get notifications of new blog posts on twitter anymore? I really miss being able to pull that up first thing in the AM, before I come to work.
Was it by choice, or is there an issue with Twitter? Just wonderin’. Have a great Tuesday, everyone!
Much more isolated storms today compared to yesterday, sounds like we need the break today as the forecast looks very wet in the days ahead, about.50in. of rain in east Frankfort yesterday!
I agree very much. But, this is still superior to what was going on at this time last year 🙂
I’m with you on that, last year this time daily temps in the low to mid 100s, that makes this year a wonderful gift so far, Tomatoes are looking great to 😉
I’ve noticed here in Lexington, every time there’s a chance of rain, it rains about every time. im already a bit tired of this pattern, although I wish this pattern would come in the winter time.
Storm blew down several large trees on Maxwell St. in Lexington near Good Sam. On tree blown into large power lines on the side of the hospital. One lane of traffic blocked. A mess.
