Good Thursday, everyone. Much better weather is blowing into the commonwealth of Kentucky today as a cold front swings through here. This front will usher in cooler and drier air for a couple of days as we jump into the start of the weekend. Don’t get too used to it… scattered storms return as early as Sunday.
We will still have to contend with scattered showers and thunderstorms for a part of today. Cooler and drier air will work in from the northwest during the afternoon and evening hours. Highs will top out in the upper 70s to around 80.
Skies will clear for Friday and Saturday with lows dropping into the 50s for some. Highs will near 80 Friday and into the low 80s for Saturday.
An upper level low will likely begin to impact our weather by Sunday with some scattered showers and storms. This compact low may work from north to south across the region into Monday…
Throw in some juice from the tropics and we get a renewed threat for showers and thunderstorms into early next week. The European Model is on board…![]()
Yes… some heavy rains will be possible during that time. That almost goes without saying at this point.
While signs continue to point toward a warm and humid pattern… the models continue to spit out decent rain totals over the next few weeks. Here’s the GFS 2 week rain forecast…
Our summer of storms shows no signs of letting go. Make it a great Thursday and take care.
Very muggy still here in Frankfort, that dryer air has yet to make it here, waiting and hoping for that fresh air.
dewpoint still over 70 in Lawrenceburg as well. Come on cold front!
First dew point in the 50s (Henderson County) according to KY Mesonet. Salvation is on the way!
Bring it on! I would take 95 degrees every day if the dewpoint was in the 50’s!!!
Preach it brother!
Humidity dropped a lot here in Lex in the past few hours! It feels so nice now with temp of 77° and dew point of 64°.
Lots of structural damage and downed trees from Wednesday, along with a few injuries. Little wonder with several anemometers in Ohio and Indiana measured winds of up to 87 mph.
Louisville’s SDF airport clocked a 64 mph gust yesterday. Sadly, a child in Louisville lost his life after being struck by a falling tree limb :(. Winds were estimated over 70 mph in Franklin TN with a shopping center losing part of its roof among other damage. My area of Nashville had perhaps 55-60 mph winds; my power flickered a few times but stayed on and at worst a few large limbs were blown down. Some minor flooding as well.
And as CB touched on, looks like the wet stormy pattern resumes once again in a few days after a short dry spell. Thanks Chris for keeping us informed!
We got a quick .6″ in SE Bourbon County. It was a surprise downpour.
