Good Saturday and welcome to the weekend. I hope you enjoyed the blast of September air on Friday because a heck of a toasty period is ahead of us. We have a ton f tropical air beginning to push into the state today and that will hang around for the week ahead. I’m talking hazy, hot and humid for the first time this summer.
An upper level low is spinning from east to west across the region today and that’s bringing a scattering of showers and storms. Here’s regional radar to track the boomers…
That action will hang around into Sunday as humidity levels and temps begin to soar. This will take our temps into the mid and upper 80s. The forecast into next week will see temps heading into the upper 80s and low 90s as dewpoints hit the 70s.
This happens as a big ridge of high pressure sets up shop across the region. The models are already showing that ridge breaking down pretty quickly…
Make it a great Saturday and take care.
a long week of maximum AC.
I know right, just when I was lovin the past 2 days of windows open, Electric bill might get ugly!
been storming here in Southern Breathitt Co for about 2 hours now. Have .71″ on rain at this moment and still coming down. No wind but plenty of thunder and lightning. Electric blinked a couple times. I Pray it does not go off.
Looking on radar the storms moving north from southern ky are having a hard time maintaining their intensity, must be more stable air over central KY?
Recent report of 1.75 inch size hail near Dunnville KY in Casey County. Hope your cars were in the garage 😉
Looks like only western parts of KY and TN are still enjoying refreshing dewpoints in the 50s. The other parts of the two states are already back in the mid 60s with even a few sticky 70s.
