Good evening everyone. Tonight is shaping up to be a very wicked one and the same goes for Wednesday, as well. Wraparound snows are kicking in and we are seeing some bands of heavy snows setting up. Winds are gusting to 30mph at times creating blowing snow as temps crash.
Roads will likely become snow covered very quickly this evening. Here is what i’m expecting for additional snowfall…
Here is your snow tracking radar…
Keep posting the weather conditions from where you live and take care.

first? second?
it’s pouring in knox county.
knox co. roads slick and white…adding to the snow already on the ground still from the weekend snow..:) tally hoo!!!
Nws said less than a half inch tonight for Morgan co guess what the are wrong we have had about 2 inches in the last hour or so and it’s still pouring thank god for Chris Bailey…….
I think Chris is being generous with Central KY and a 1-3 inch additional accumulation. We are just a bunch of lost souls wandering aimlessly.
What about the next system? Gonna be too warm or not?
HWY 27 from Stanford to Somerset was white. A plow truck would scrape it off and the wind would just blow it back on. Rough night of travel for sure 🙁
Pouring the snow at Dorton, it is like a mini blizzard, and I’m not talking about DQ either!
Whiteout conditions here on Lakeville in Magoffin County right now!
It is snowing huge flakes in southern Magoffin right now. It is accumulating fast!

obviously constructive as opposed to complaining. Sorry!
What are you talking about and what.’s your point.

Thanks Chris,
I like the updated map Clay Co. is now in to an addtional 2-4 inches through Wed. night. It is still snowing here. Coming down pretty good in my area.
It is amazing how just when central KY looks good on radar to the west of us the snow vanishes or moves further to the south! 1-3 in. will not happen tonight!
Dry air being sucked into Central KY?
Looking a little ahead…

I sure wish this one would come through… I know it’s way in the future, but hey, I can wish!
if that is all snow, that would shut us down.
A lot of us including me get punchy sometimes but I do see the evidence where central Ky. could get 1-3 more as CB states.
Here in eastern Boyle County close to 1 inch since 2pm. Its blown around so much its hard to say but I agree with high impact and the temp has fallen to 27* at 6:55.
Following RUC i as well expect snow to pick up again thru the night even in Mercer, Boyle, Garrard, Jessamine and Lincoln.
This not a brown nose or fanboy site- it is a discussion forum for the weather in regards to CB’s outlooks and forecasts.
If this site became a bunch of lemmings, it would be more a cult worship site, rather than a forum.
All I know is Richmond got 1″, so we need one more 1″ to meet the minimum forecast. Unfortunately all but north and far east KY could be on the low end of the snow map and appears to be correct- pending some super serious wrap effect tonight.
This would not be the first time the wrap around beat the direct flow.
I’m certainly no expert – quite the amateur, really. I couldn’t even begin to speculate on temps. All I know about that is Chris says will be a cold January.
Sorry about the horrible links! I’m still a new-b
I’m sure this has been asked numerous times but, I guess I have missed it….In the times-what does the “Z” stand for and how does it translate into regular time.
Zulu time. I googled a converter last nite…
I did the exact same thing!!
East Point/Johnson County: All day here it has snowed itty bitty amounts,
no accumulation. Thirty minutes ago it started to pour the snow
Covered the roads and now has stopped again.
What strange weather!
John Connor!
Leader of the resistance!
You must be kidding….
Blizzard like conditions here in Fleming County. White out conditions from the snow and wind.
Here in Lawrenceburg, have received around 2.5″ of snow, maybe close to 3″…hard to tell with strong, gusty winds…streets covered quickly around 5:00 this afternoon…everyone will need to be careful in the morning, especially on those “north-south) roads due to blowing snow!!!
Radar looks pretty bleak to me. Overcast conditions in Lexington the past hour or so. Are we expecting more energy and should we see radar filling in more later or something? Anyone know?
Sorry to go off topic, but where can I watch the UK game online? We don’t get ESPNU or 360.com
http://channelsurfing.net/watch-ncaa-basketball.html
For the uk game
We’re in the lull between bands right now. Had a nice layer if ice pellets fall before the snow set in. Very slick out there tonight.
so? when is this storm??
Thanks for trying to help a brother out, but that link doesn’t work for me. All I get is a screen that says “be notified when __________ goes live” or something like that.
About 3 inches here in Georgetown. Just flurries at the moment. Scott County Snow Day #7 tomorrow…
Could be wrong but that link seems to be some kind of chat room..Would not click on the link if i were you peeps…
starting to snow at a good clip here in Hueysville (Floyd co.) roads quickly becoming snow covered
It is not snowing currently in the southern part of Georgetown, but when it did snow today it came down hard and hung around for a while. If I had to estimate, I would say there is 2-3″ in my backyard, possibly a little more.
What happened to the justin tv link for games?
just came from somerset to stearns, hwy27 roads are ice with 1/2inch snow on top, took me 2 hours, and everyone else passing me. Why do people drive so crazy? But I’m a fraidy cat I guess.
It was a link from channel surfing.net to a stream from justin.tv but that stream is down…
http://www.directon.tv/channels/718/UK2K
that is another link that I have just confirmed for sure works.
Woodford county snow day #5 wednesday
OK that one works. Thanks a bunch.
Road conditions in london are poor, salt crews are working, but blowing snow is covering quickly. Side roads are totally covered. Be careful
Very windy but not a flake falling. If we are getting wrap around, it is taking the loooong way around 😉
So far out the is much pumped event from local mets, Richmond has gotten about 1″.
My guess is salt to snow ratio, salt is winning ATM 😉
Fayette co. schools out Wednesday.
This is something I wish the NWS would do a bit more often…and maybe with a bit more urgency:

Not working for me. Flash works fine, but that link and site, none work. Strange.
Moderate to heavy snow falling in Pikeville.Gusty winds.
Nothing here about 3 miles from Buckhorn lake in Breathitt Co a dusting at best and from the looks of the radar it is clear from here all the way back to Louisville
The NWS in Louisville issued one earlier this evening for parts of Southern Indiana and counties northeast of Louisville.
I need some advice about going to atlanta thursday thru sunday for a business trip–hey all you guys–what would you say if it was your wife???
It is tied into GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) and that is 5 hours ahead of EST. So, whatever time it is in KY (or Eastern time zone), zulu or GMT time is 5 hours later than that. 🙂
This snow is almost like pop-up storms in the summer, very scattered, it can be an all out blizzard one spot and a few miles down the road not even flurries..Snowfall totals will vary greatly when this is over.
Hey Kathy,
I am in Atlanta currently at the Gift Show. We are a vendor here. It was really bad but now most of the snow has turned to slush on all roadways. We are getting around fine.
If you are flying, I seriously doubt they will have their schedule back to normal by Thursday. ATL airport was shutdown yesterday and into today, and it takes a long time to get the planes and crews back together again. If you are driving, I would imagine the interstates would be clear by Thursday but you can check this link: http://i75.mobi/pc/traffic.php
Be safe!

just had a heavy snow squall move through barbourville dropped a quick 1/2 to 1″ of snow in about 30-40minutes time…very impressive..
Nothing yet in Richmond. 1″ total for the day and nothing but a bunch of wind.
Wrap around wind- no snow.
I will bet Chris is not as Impressed as he has been about the wrap-around stuff! Radar Proves that Southern&Eastern Ohio all ways gets that good stuff!
The 20-30 mph winds are the story tonight, not the snow. Its literally rattling my windows..
We picked up 1/2-1″ over west KY and far southern IL – northern parts of southern IL picked up 2-3″. Storm behaved just about as forecast. First wave really missed us.
We are becoming concerned out in the western part of the state about the weekend system – looks like a real mixed bag. I put some BUFKIT soundings on my updated video – certainly looks interesting. Mixed opinions – will be watching for your updates Chris.

Well, we got a quick inch and a half about a hour ago. It was snowign so hard you couldn’t see. Right now, it is cloudy, and windy and very cold. Looks like a few ore snow showers moving our way, but nothing major. Temp is at 25 at my house.
When is the next threat for an accumulating snowfall in Central Ky?
Heavy snow squall in Hyden,..an inch on the ground since dusk, and upslope has kicked into high gear. Everything is white, Chris is right on again with his forecast amounts! We should have 3, maybe 4 inches here by morningl
we have a windstorm and a heavy snow right now…this wind will cut you in to.
Had a good squall move through Versailles around 6:00, but nothing now. WINDY and COLD. I’d say we got about 3 inches and I don’t expect much more. I’m predicting schools are back in business on Thursday.
We’ve actually still got snow coming down in wesr lexington… even though the weather thing shows just cloudy. It’s actually coming down pretty nicely! We have three inches on the street (that includes what was already there — so we’ve probably gotten about 2 1/2 today). I think the snow would probably be a bit deeper if the wind weren’t blowing so hard!
Seems a bust. This has been one of the most over hyped, over salted, over blown events evah!
If you are not in north or far east KY, you are probably going to be challenged to get the minimum of the maps. Oh yeah, I have been saying that for a few days now. Yes, I do believe I am being very redundant. Just would be nice to be wrong and get a Bubba buster.
Beau..do you have a website?
Hell, if we had 30 inches you would be screaming bust. I am in southcentral Ky. we have had 2 or 3 inches since 7 PM. If you stay this depressed about weather constantly, let it go.
Light snow currently falling in Pikeville except during the wind burst.I guess we have about an inch maybe more. Its hard to tell with the wind blows it off.
My point earlier was I thought Chris was being generous with a 1-3 inch wrap around because he felt sorry for us. 3 things are certain in central KY. Death, Taxes and no big snow.
Will it snow enough to cover roads again in Ashland overnight tonight?
WOW…REPORTS OF A METEOR STRIKE IN MISSISSIPPI..WHAT ELSE CRAZY WEATHER WISE IS GONNA HAPPEN…
Its quite impressive at times under some of these. Some quick very heavy burst and some pretty gusty winds making for a wild scene at times. Yes its mainly in the east and north, but per Chris’ snowfall map that’s where most of the action is to be anyway, unless I’m missing something.
Ease er down
http://weatherobservatory.blogspot.com/
The radar doesn’t show it, but it is snowing at a pretty good clip in Wilmore and the reports are that we have gotten between 3″ and 4″ of snow today for a total of 6-8″ this week – not bad! There has been some pretty wicked blowing and drifting, too – I encountered groud-blizzard conditions on 29 coming into town.
im in frankfort, i have 4 inches.
One thing to keep in mind also is that if you’ve been following any of the reports from these you’ll see that a half inch, inch or two, can easily be picked in a short period of time with any shower or two, so maybe that was in the thoughts too. Of course, it is just getting underway also.
Got a link or newsource for the meteor strike? Love following those and kind find anything.
hahah look at the last tweet, someone said is richmond going to get anymore, looks at radar nothing there. Chris simply replys lake michigan. Clearly chris does not like us doubting him!!!!!!! lol
that band between indianapolis and cincy looks to be gaining strength, something to watch.
would like it if the the blue on the radar would fill in… and stop avoiding Ashland :/
Big time bust in Richmond anyway. Perhaps 1.5 inches and some wind, Just one snow that leaves all the grass unseen and then spring, please. I have been back in Richmond since 2004 and the grass has always been in sight.
sunday should be all snow. check below for my comment on the GFS.
the operational GFS is garbage past sunday and should be thrown out. After doing really well the past few weeks it has a very poor handle on the energy moving into the northern plains sunday this should translate southward not get shunted east quickly. I would like to see a track from bismark to sue saint marie to toronto given the arctic air in place early this week. ECMWF is far more likely front still in the region Monday with low pressure formation over texas from the same energy this low cuts northeast Tuesday either going west or east of the apps. This solution could still be a cold rain
Ohhhh! So we want to get on our high horse doe we since we got 2″ to 3″ inches of snow this evening alone via wrap around action. Welllllll!
What we have here is class warfare! Those that have (Snowgoose’s couple inches of snow) and us lowly common folks with diddly squat this evening.
Have it your way, Snowgoosey. I think I will create my a pseaudo nickname and post some drive-by posts. My nickname will be Snowpea.
Word to the common man who aint’ got much snow. It’s not depression, this is oppression!! 🙂
Hey, Snowgoose got three inches tonight, so all is well in south central KY…. I am not depressed, but I am feelin’ oppressed by the people on their high horse touting their fortunes in south central while us common folk have diddly.
Uh oh, I am feeling a song from Rage Against the Machine: Bulls on Parade…. Will rally around the family!
🙂 😉
Hahaha… I only have 140 characters! 😉
Forecasted low tonight for Louisville is 21. We’re already there. The hour by hour forecast shows us to be sitting at 26 right now.
Being that much colder should help the snow to develop for the area’s overnight wrap-around moisture, right?
why use more than you need to right? lol
Good morning on my way to the Dentist. We have moderate to heavy at times snow falling in Pikeville 23 degrees.
