Good Friday to one and all. We are rolling into the weekend as rounds of showers and thunderstorms continue to gain steam. These storms are all part of another stormy setup that will carry us through the rest of the month. This pattern may ensure a top 10 wet summer for many cities across the state.
The calling card of the storms over the past few days has been noise and rain. These have prolific lightning and rain producers and that is likely to carry us into today. Follow along on regional radar…
Storms this weekend will really ramp up and we could be talking about severe storms by the second half of Saturday. That’s when a cold front drops in from the northwest…
Damaging winds and hail will be the main threats from those storms. Heavy rain will be likely as the cold front slows down across the state. This will set the stage for northwest to southeast moving clusters of thunderstorms for most of next week.
Impulses diving in from the northwest will provide the chance for strong and severe storms and that will be something to keep a very close eye on.
Have a great Friday and take care.
Can’t quite remember a summer like this. Raining over a 50 percent clip in Knox co. Definitely dont want to spend a summer where it rains every other day on average. Tourism has had to take a big hit this summer. How many people do you think have skipped weekend trips to lakes etc… In the state because of forecasts of rain almost everyday. One of my least enjoyed summers that I can remember.
I’ll take this over drought any day.
I would prefer drier weather possible even a drought. Our road has been shut down 3 times in the past month because of mud slides because the ground is so wet.
Thundering as I type this in Southern Breathitt.
I don’t want a drought, but I agree with Bob. I am sure the pattern will change just in time for winter once again. Sorry to be so negative, but this past year has been very mehhh!!!
I could use some rain, 9 days since the last measurable rain in my part of east Frankfort !
Nothing but hot and humid and it looks to last
