Good Monday and welcome to the last full week of July. I find it hard to believe I just typed that statement… summer is flying by. We dubbed this the “summer of storms” and it certainly has not disappointed. Rounds of showers and storms have been common since day one and that trend continues out there today.
Storms over the past few days have been loaded with rain and lightning and today’s action will be no different. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH continues for eastern and southeastern Kentucky into the evening. In reality, the threat for flash flooding will be with the entire region. Any storm that’s out there will have the potential to drop a quick 1″-3″ of rain. Watch the creeks and streams and regional radar…
Rounds of showers and storms will continue into Tuesday as temps run normal to slightly below normal.
This continues to be a pattern featuring the jet stream buckling across the eastern half of the country…
The showers and storms will become more scattered in nature as we roll from Wednesday through Friday. Warm and humid weather will be with us during this time with temps in the 80s. The big dip you see on Saturday will feature another storm system rolling across the Ohio Valley with showers and storms. That’s a pretty cool shot of air blowing in to end the month of July on.
Have a great Monday and take care.
Almost a solid line of t-showers from Louisville to Memphis. Of course, somewhat typical for our area.
But rain falling along coastal southern California in July? That’s much more rare! Yet it has been happening the last few days as moisture from the southwest monsoon has flowed farther to the west than normal. Here (click link) is a sight you don’t see too often this time of year!
Berea is under a red swath on radar, but not the kind of on-the-ground situation you’d expect. There’s no wind, no lightning, no thunder, no hail, just an continual torrent of RAIN.
I’m curious, can the color coded system of weather radar be influenced to the extreme end (reds or worse) by only a single element of the severe weather equation?
Well yeah, they’re not tracking different levels of DOOM. 🙂
can we dry out and get some sun please? my soaked garden would appreciate it!
