Good Thursday, everyone. The steamy beat rolls on out there today with heat and humidity leading to a few showers and storms going up. The overall setup continues to trend more toward stormy in the coming days as the temps slowly start to drop.
Temps out there today reach the upper 80s to low 90s on average with the traditional hot spots doing it a little better than that. Humidity levels keep the heat index numbers into the upper 90s to low 100s.
A few scattered storms will go up once again and these will be loaded with lightning and torrential rains. The Storm Prediction Center even has a Marginal Risk for a few severe storms across eastern Kentucky…

More storms show up during the afternoon and evening hours on Friday and the Storm Prediction Center has another Marginal Risk for severe storms across central and eastern Kentucky…

Scattered showers and storms crank up this weekend and really increase more for Monday and Tuesday as a cold front sweeps through to begin the month of July. Drying conditions look to follow that as cooler air moves in for Wednesday and Thursday of next week…
Temps should be pretty pleasant for early July, but can we hold off the storms for the 4th? That’s what we are hoping for, but the potential for storms will crash back in around the 4th or, perhaps, just after. Watch how the EURO brings clusters of showers and storms dropping in here from the northwest from late on the 4th into the following week…
That run of the EURO is seeing some hefty rain totals over the next few weeks…
This is something the GFS Extended is seeing for much of July as it continues to show above normal rains around here…
Here’s your daily dose of heat and storm tracking tools…

Make it a great Thursday and take care.

I still don’t think we get that much rain.
Hope your right Jeff. This heat wave has given us good drying out that we needed, The ground was so saturated before the heat came along.
True, but some folks out there were already hollering about dryness, haha!
Depends on your soil type. My soil is already dry, and I’m not expecting any good rains anytime soon.
We’ve gone 8 days without rain in central Warren County and could use a soaking. High temperature yesterday was 97.3°F, with the heat index maxing out at 116°F in the late afternoon. I’m all for summer heat, but I also look forward to ditching the extreme temps.
