Good Friday and Happy 4th of July! Not only is our nations birthday, but it’s also the birthday of Kentucky Weather Center. This site went live on this date back in 2008 and we’ve never missed a day without posting. That’s 6,209 days if you’re playing along at home.
Our Independence Day continues to look really good with highs 85-90 in most areas with a spot or two above. Humidity levels are still in good shape with a mix of sun and clouds.
Highs range from the upper 80s to low 90s this weekend for most areas as humidity levels jump up a bit. This is nothing like what we had last week. There’s also the chance for isolated storms going up on Saturday with greater coverage Sunday.
From there, waves of showers and storms roll from west to east across the state into next week. This animation starts Saturday night and goes through Friday morning and shows all the action…
Locally heavy rains are a good bet during this time, leading to hit and run high water potential.
The models then try to bring another upper level system dropping in from the northwest, leading to a few more storms next weekend into the following week..
The potential for a below normal pattern is there during this time…
We continue to watch a tropical system developing off the southeast coast. This is slowly getting better organized…
The National Hurricane Center continues to give this a decent chance of becoming a Tropical Depression or Tropical Storm…
But don’t forget, before this site was born, for what I’m guessing (it’s so vague) we were on your WKYT blog (I think) for maybe 3 years or so before you announced the starting of this site… And then after that, you ended up moving to Huntington while keeping most of us as followers…then you came back to Lex. Gosh, I hope I’m remembering that correctly. LOL
That GFS is not going to verify.
Happy birthday to our Great Nation, and happy birthday to Chris’s Great weather blog. We are bless with such great weather for this 4th of July.
Enjoy and Stay Safe Everyone !
