Good Friday afternoon gang and thanks for all you do for the blog. Periods of light snow have been working across the state today with many areas picking up a few inches of the white stuff. As the disturbance causing today’s snow moves away… another one will quickly move in overnight into early Saturday with a fresh inch or two across central and eastern Kentucky.

Track the snows here…

The blast of snow later tonight into early Saturday will be followed by a nice shot of arctic temps. Readings Saturday will struggle to get out of the upper teens during the afternoon hours. Gusty winds will make it feel even colder than that. Snow showers and flurries should continue into Saturday evening for most areas.

I have no changes to my thoughts on the early week storm and the models continue to be in the same camps they have been in for a few days now. The Canadian has been rock solid with showing our thoughts of one low going by to our south Sunday and Monday followed by a second low making a run at us late Monday and Tuesday…

You will notice the Canadian is farther north with the snow shield from storm number one on Monday. It would bring a shot of accumulating snows from the first system if that is correct. It has the GFS Ensemble mean in it’s camp…

The Short Range Ensemble Forecast also brings the snow shield from the fist storm northward into the region…

A quick peak at the new European Model shows some snow breaking out into the region Monday from the first storm. The model looks to be trending toward the Canadian and GFS Ensembles with the second storm as well.

Again… I want to stress that I can’t tell you if you will get a couple inches of snow or several inches of snow early next week. All I am doing is breaking down what I am seeing from the pattern and the models. I continue to say the pattern and the models don’t yet match one another. Should be a fun weekend..

More updates as needed so check back. Take care.
