Good evening everyone. We are wrapping up the first Monday of the new year on a chilly and pleasant note as we await the arrival of a harsh period of wintry weather for much of January. That period will begin later this week and weekend before really kicking into high gear next week.

I have mentioned our southern counties have a shot at some white stuff Wednesday night and Thursday morning from a southern stream system rolling eastward. The latest run of the NAM is really hitting this possibility as it puts down some snow…

The Canadian Model is showing something similar, but I am not sold on moisture making it this far north. We shall see.

More thoughts…

– Clipper mania kicks off Thursday night through Saturday. This should bring several snow streaks our way from the northwest.

– Accumulating snows will be likely during the above mentioned time frame.

– A blast of arctic air will swing in for the weekend to give us a small taste of what is ahead.

– Early next week will feature a storm system rolling out of the southwest toward the mid atlantic states giving us the threat for snow.

– a MAJOR blast of arctic air is set to invade the country by the end of next week. Once this sets in… it will be in no hurry to leave as January continues to show signs of becoming a classic!

Have a great evening and take care.
