Good evening, everyone. Our first storm system is set to blow across the region with rain and a little bit of snow for the weekend. The main focus continues to be on the bigger storm system coming behind it later Monday and Tuesday. That one looks rather messy.
I have no changes to my overall thought process for the system moving in later Saturday into Saturday night. Rain and some snow develops from west to east Saturday into Saturday evening with most areas going over to rain after the initial burst of some snow that can put down minor accumulations in the north.
I’m not sure this is worthy of a First Call map, so I’m keeping this rolling…
The system coming in later Monday into Tuesday is still a major work in progress with each model run showing something different from the run before or what the other models show. Of course, that’s to be expected.
This tweet from the NWS Louisville has me perplexed with the mixed messaging of uncertainty with a side order of details…
More wintry weather is possible Monday night and Tuesday. The track and evolution of this storm remains highly uncertain. Stay tuned for later updates. #kywx #inwx pic.twitter.com/yWEoh4shze

As mentioned, the forecast models won’t get their act together for another day or two. The determining factor on whether you get snow, rain, a mix, freezing rain or nothing will be just how far north that lead low gets into the southern Appalachian Mountains.
Here’s what the EURO looks like…
And the Parallel Canadian…
The goes from a smackdown snow to an ice storm to a rain storm all within a few hours. The latest run is more of a rain maker than anything else…
It’s interesting to note how all the Medium Range Ensembles are now seeing the potential for several snow systems over the next two weeks. Don’t focus on the amounts cause those aren’t even close to be accurate. They’re just giving you an idea that we have snow chances ahead…
I’ll see you back here later tonight. Make it a great rest of your Friday and take care.
