Good afternoon gang. Sometimes the blog likes to take a little road trip for some cool weather video from other parts of the country. The Blizzard of 2010 has paralyzed much of the northeastern part of the country with 2 feet of snow in many places. Parts of New Jersey are digging out from more than 30″ of the white stuff. Wow!
If you have ever wondered what it’s like to be in a blizzard in New York City… this video is for you…
Here is an awesome time lapse video of the snowfall…
Your friendly weather dude STRONGLY considered hopping a plane to NYC late Christmas Day to experience this storm firsthand. Maybe we could organize a blizzard chase here on the blog. Would anyone be interested in something like that?
By the way… send me your pics of the Christmas weekend snow around here and I will try to get them on the blog tonight or Tuesday. Email Chris
Some words on the future…
– Cold temps will hang tough into Tuesday before some moderation takes place Wednesday as milder air moves in for the end of the week.
– This milder air is likely to have a touch of light snow and light freezing rain on the front side Wednesday night. That would change to rain for Thursday.
– Showers will be scattered for New Year’s Eve with temps near 50. New Year’s Day looks wet with falling late day temps from west to east.
– Sunday will see MUCH colder air working in with some light snow or flurries possible.
– I am watching a potential winter weather maker for the middle and end of next week.
– The blocking continues and may go into the tank once again by the second week or so of January. This could lead to some very wild wintry weather with some true arctic shots for the middle and end of the month.
Have a good evening and take care.
OMG!! A blizzard chase would be sooo awesome! If we can’t get a blizzard here then why not go where the blizzard is gonna be!
sounds like it could get very interesting towards the end of the month
I’m in. Even a nice lake event.
Count me in Chris!!!
Would be so sweet.
Chris,
The Blizzard in New York and Jersey is amazing. If you want to do a blizzard chase let me know I’m game on for that. In reality any weather chase I’m all for it.
Same here.
Me that sounds wild and speaking of! Sounds like a boing Jan. May not happen after all 🙂
That would be the bomb, Chris!!!!!!!!!!!
Man those videos are just awesome especially those time lapse snowfall vids…that is what ole rolo would call ” old School “…and then some!!!
…….
I read where JKL.. says that parts of Ky. have already seen more snow this season than what they would see all season long…WOW!!!..pretty impressive, being so many long range folks were saying totally the opposite…well alot were saying the front end of the season would be loaded…but the above average snowfall wasnt forecasted or at least I dont think…(folks other than Chris I’m talking about)..now Chris is saying Jan. could have some tricks up its sleeves…when again long ranger’s says no…( I think I’ll get on the Bailey express!!! CHOOO CHOOO….:( )
Thats suppose to be a 🙂
not a :(…LOL
I think CB is right all the time. Its still early in the season. I think we will see many many more snow storms for us. So far we are at #2 and counting here.
I am in for the Blizzard chase.
Me neither Crystal!
So it sounds like winter continues for January according toChris. Sounds good to me.
Hi Patty

Thats for the peeps that think its going to warm up. lol
Regarding Dec and what Chris Baily is saying for January I think some Septic Tank Cleaner told us all this way back in early NOVEMBER when we were still seeing MAN temps and had been on a monthly basis for almost 8 months, for Dec to turn the way it did was amazing and TOTALLY contrary to what most private services and METS were saying at the time. I wonder whom this Septic Tank Cleaner is and where he gets his darts? Louisville Mets one in particular on a VHF frequency betwixt 2 and 4 said Dec would be AN I believe and Jan would see more 50’s than 30’s.
Can you say BUST ladies and gentlemen?
I simply love it. Sharpen yer darts Mr. 50’s man, ain’t happened ain’t gonna happen. We are well into a total cycle change that began in 07 and the previous one lasted 2.5 decades. Look for more Winters like this for years to come and I am so glad for it.

RAKE…Hey you need to visit CB’s blog more often. After JB left Wave3 you have not been around. Almost like you retired along with JB. Glad to see you are still providing your insight. I too agree with the current cycle being around for awhile. Hope to see more posts from you on CB and WAVE3’s blogs..
