Good Wednesday, everyone. Our old summer nemesis is making a return visit to the bluegrass state today. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be floating around out there and this puts an end to our awesome string of weather days. The threat for showers and storms will increase as we head into the weekend, with some of the models turning super soggy.
In the short term… scattered is the name of the storm game today. Here’s regional radar to help you along the way…
Temps will be troublesome because of the scattered nature of the rains. A few areas getting in on showers may not get to 70 today. Low to mid 70s will be common outside of the drops.
Warmer air moves in by Thursday and Friday as readings make a run toward 80. Scattered showers and storms will have the final say so on how high the thermometer goes on your back porch.
A strong cold front works our way by Friday night and Saturday. This will kick off widespread showers and storms working in from the northwest. This takes place as something tropical tries to get going in the Gulf of Mexico. Can we get some kind of interaction between that system and the cold front? The Canadian Model is going crazy with this setup…
That would be a major rain maker around here that would also give us some pretty good winds. The GFS is trending toward that direction…
The hot off the presses European Model is doing the same…
That is something for us to keep a close eye on as we roll through the next few days. To drive that point home and to illustrate my interest level in this system… I will update things later today.
Have a wonderful Wednesday and take care.
once again chris you are right on the money with the rain and wouldn’t expect any thing less from you except perfection……other mets in my local area was kind of shoving the rain out of the picture for today and thursday for that matter and they are not saying a whole lot about the weekend rain possibilities…..i will not mention the mets on here but it is in the huntington area so you have probably worked with them before….have a good 1 and thanks for keeping us informed even when you are on vacation….dedication and fun is what i call that type of work…..god bless.
First winter weather advisory (as far as I know) in the lower 48 issued in Montana! Signs of things to come, hopefully if we get any snow at all. http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/mso/
Rain, rain go away… well, at least for Saturday. I have an outdoor wedding to attend and I don’t like this forecast at all!
I feel some of your pain. My own wedding date is nearing with some planned outdoor activities (but with backup indoor facilities).
We planned for this time of year partly because early autumn tends to be sunny and dry in this part of the country. But of course there are exceptions to every rule.
I live in middle Tennessee (Franklin), and I really hope we can be rain-free on Saturday night/Sunday morning. I’m taking the youth camping, but may need to consider cancelling based on what I’m seeing here. :/ Hopefully, everything comes in earlier than expected!
Always nice to know there are others outside KY that like CB’s blog.;) I’m just up the road from you in Nashville. Grew up in east TN, but lived in KY twice and my fiancĂ©e is from KY.
Wow…That would be a lot of rain..Especially from the European Model….Hopefully everyone will monitor the risk and be prepared..
