Good Thursday to all my weather geeks. We continue to track an interesting setup as we roll into the upcoming weekend. It’s one that the models have had some wild swings with and I suspect they still have a few swings to go. Wait… that’s a line I normally drop in the winter. Pace yourself, Bailey! 😉
Before the weekend system, we have scattered showers and storms to go through today. These will dive in from the northwest and could contain some heavy rain. Regional radar has got your back…
Temps today will be warmer than the past few days. Readings will hit the 80s in the west and head toward 80 across the central and east. Of course, shower and storm action will play a trump card on your thermometer if they choose.
Friday will be a breezy and muggy day with warm temps and scattered showers and storms. This action will pick up Friday night as things become much more widespread. Heavy rain is a good bet through Saturday across the region.
What happens after that is still up in the air. The latest trend from the GFS is to bring a weak system northward along the front, while leaving the main tropical system well south in the Gulf…
That would bring a healthy rainfall to much of the region with lots of 1″+ rain numbers. Anytime you get a cold front with a big supply of gulf moisture… these things can overachieve in the rainfall department.
That also shows a nice punch of cool air coming in for Sunday and Monday as drier air sweeps in behind the departing system.
I will update things later today. Make it a good one and take care.
