Good Friday, everyone. Our strong cold front is just hours away from blowing into the bluegrass state, and will bring widespread showers and storms with it. The main action comes this evening into early Saturday, with a nice surge of cool air moving in behind it.
Let’s break it all down…
– Tropical air continues to filter into the state today as humidity levels soar. Highs will likely hit the 80-85 degree range ahead of the showers and storms.
– Showers and storms will be scattered throughout the day.
– A line of showers and storms will work into western Kentucky later this afternoon and evening. That line will roll eastward and increase into tonight. This may be aided by a disturbance rolling right on top of us overnight and early Saturday morning. 1″+ rains are a good bet for a lot of people.
– Some of the storms this afternoon and evening may be strong or severe. High winds and hail would be the main threats.
– Heavy rain and thunder will be across central and eastern Kentucky Saturday morning and will slide east as the day wears on.
– Much cooler air sweeps in Saturday night and Sunday, and will stick around into early next week. Upper 60s to low 70s for highs and low and mid 40 for lows look good.
– The pattern is leaving behind a lot of junk down in the Gulf of Mexico. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some moisture spreading back in here before next week is over.
I leave you with all the storm tracking toys you need…
I will update as needed. Have a great day and take care.
