Good Friday afternoon, gang. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are pushing into the state and this will become widespread this evening into tonight. The action will push out during the day on Saturday, but is likely to leave behind some hefty rain numbers.
Here’s a look at what may fall during this time…
With thunderstorms in the mix… that can influence totals from one place to another. Keep a close eye on water levels later tonight and early Saturday.
Cooler and drier air works in for the rest of the weekend into early next week. Sunday and Monday look awesome with upper 60s to low 70s and lows in the 40s.
Watch for moisture to push back in here for the middle and end of the week.
I leave you with regional radar…
I will update as needed. Have a great day and take care.
Will the rain move out in time for a late afternoon, outdoor wedding on Saturday?
If Shelbyville misses out on this rain, I will complain to customer service and demand a full refund!!
Looks like you are a satisfied customer! 🙂 Shelby county is already at 1″ and counting!
No complaints, here, boss! I’m LOVING the rain. And this system is huge! It stretches from Canada to Mexico!
Love the 2 posts a day! Keeps me up to date with information. Thanks CB, hope we dont have flooding today and tonight.
We’ve had some temps in the 40’s but I don’t see any temps in the 30’s for the rest of this month. Seems like those analog years with September temps in the 30’s won’t be useful. September is going to end up a warmer than normal month. Let’s hope October won’t be the same.
I wouldn’t say that. Temps will flirt with the upper 30s in some spots Sunday or Monday morning. Several areas hit 40 earlier this month. There’s nothing warm about this pattern going forward and I would expect many areas to be end very close to normal for the month. My call was for +/- 1 for the month and that looks to be in fine shape. the European Model has a huge shot of chill coming for the final two days of the month. Thanks for all you do, Chris. I love the stats you bring to the table.
Relatively few lighting strikes recorded the last few hours in our area, so hopefully HS football games had few delays. Just some heavy rains in spots.
We’re in somewhat of a sweet spot; the lightning strike map looks like a Christmas tree around the Great Lakes and the Gulf Coast.
Thank you Chris for all your hard work. I check this site daily. I sure hope Lexington gets in on some big snows this winter.
