Good evening everyone. I wanted to drop by for a quickie update to get everyone up to speed on the White Christmas and snowy Christmas weekend that is ahead of us. Let’s break it down headline style…
– There could be a sneaky and streaky batch of light snow into parts of central and western Kentucky Friday afternoon.
– Steady Snow will break out from west to east Christmas Eve and continue into Christmas Day. A general 1″-4″ of snow will be likely across the entire region.
– Snow will taper off in the west Christmas Afternoon while lightening up a bit in the east. Roads will likely be snow covered for holiday travelers.
– A very strong upper level low will develop over top of us Christmas Night through early Monday. This will cause widespread snow showers and squalls to develop. This snow will be of a higher ration meaning it will be more powdery and can put down more accumulations.
– It may snow pretty darn hard for several hours across the eastern half of the state Sunday into Sunday night.
– There will be some wind Sunday and Monday that can blow the flakes around.

Yes!
Before anyone Debbie downers or Negative Neds or whoever get on here raining on the parade of a big snow missed I just want to say a few words. I would love to get the BIG OLD SCHOOL system for my kids to finally see, however; if any of us had been told at Thanksgiving or any day prior that we would have a shot at 1-4 inches of snow across the entire state we would have took it in a hearbeat. Now bring it on CB and hopefully well still get a big one soon.
Meant to say 1-4 inches at Christmas.
Well darn, was hoping I would be first for once haha..but was out eating and shopping haha..well I still think most of us East of Lexington at least will see higher than the totals..the “wrap around snow bands” can and most likely will lay down a few inches to add to the totals..Chris is always on top of it..I think he’s holding back haha..just my humble opinion 🙂

I am hoping on the last 0z runs before the storm begins to effect the area, that there will be more moisture in the north phase. Keeping my fingers cross.

I have to go to work but looking at 0z nam only up to 42hrs out. It appears that the moisture for the ohio valley improve a little and down state lost a little. I might be wrong.

I’m losing confidence in this storm…way too much uncertainty…nothing in the gulf seems to be willing to push much moisture this way.
