Good Tuesday, friends. Our gorgeous window of weather is about to close as showers and thunderstorms begin to push into the region. This is all part of a fairly active second half of September weather pattern that started this past Friday night.

A system rolling across the plains states is working toward the region and will draw up moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. This will cause showers and storms to develop across the western half of the state today. Regional radar will help you track the drops…

The best rain chances will be with us tomorrow and the GFS is spitting out some half inch rain amounts between now and Thursday…

GFS Rain

Two days ago the GFS was showing no rain impacting the bluegrass state. This is why I can’t understand why so many people base a forecast on that model and nothing else.

The rain will move away by Thursday as warmer air moves in to end the week and start the weekend. That said… this is not a really warm look from the European Model…

Temps in the mid to upper 70s will be common across the east to start the weekend. Low 80s are possible in the west. Winds will be gusty as a strong cold front sweeps in for Sunday. That will be accompanied by a line of showers and thunderstorms. Cooler air moves in behind that boundary as a very amplified pattern develops for next week…
