Good Wednesday, everyone. A small area of low pressure is working across the bluegrass state today, and it’s bringing some wet weather with it. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue through the day, but should taper off this evening into the overnight.
The best threat for rain today will be along and south of Interstate 64. Some areas across the south could pick up close to a half inch of rain. Far northern parts of the state may not see very much at all. Whatever is out there will show up on our regional radar…
Temps will hit the upper 60s to low 70s for highs, with the warmest readings likely in the north.
The showers roll out of here tonight into early Thursday and this will leave us with some nice weather. Temps will hit the mid 70s for Thursday afternoon with upper 70s for Friday. Skies will be gorgeous and that should hang tough into Saturday. Highs may be near 80 to kickoff the weekend as winds begin to pick up.
We continue to track a cold front into the state on Sunday. That front will have a band of showers and thunderstorms with it, with cooler air to follow…
Check out that system along the east coast. That could turn into a very interesting situation and I doubt any of the models are handling the overall setup correctly.
The pattern for next week starts with a trough and ends with a trough on the GFS Ensembles…![]()
Have a great day and take care.

What happened to the tropical development “we” were talking about this week?
Hi Brian.
That system developed in the southern Gulf and went into Mexico over the weekend. Thanks for trying, though.
Was wondering exactly the same thing Beth
CB called the OP “Brian”…. I am a tad surprised we did not get the rain. Seemed a good set-up for it. At least Richmond got 0.5” last week.
BTW, I have retired from snow predictions. It is like rolling dice in this area. Whatever it does it does. My kids are older now anyway, so the family thrill is gone (99% of the fun IMO). To me it is just stuff to move off my driveway now and nasty salt to clean off the car.
Can somebody please explain to me what the different colors on the maps mean exactly? I know the red onesare hot and blue cold and everything in between is cooler or warmer. But what are the actuall temperature ranges,in F°?
The more yellow, orange through red, the warmer.
