Good Thursday, everyone. A gorgeous period of weather is rolling into the bluegrass state and this will hang tough into the start of the weekend. That will change by the end of the weekend as a cold front impacts our weather. October is just around the corner and the models are hinting at a pretty active first half of the month, at least.
Here’s the easy part of the forecast:
– Skies will be partly sunny today with middle 70s for many.
– Skies will be partly sunny Friday with upper 70s for many.
– Skies will be partly sunny Saturday with upper 70s to around 80 for many.
Our cold front arrives on Sunday with a line of showers and some thunder. This doesn’t look like a washout, but showers and clouds will keep temps in the upper 60s to low 70s. Similar temps will be with us early next week with a leftover shower or two.
The models have backed off of the big cutoff low scenario early next week, but they are not backing away from the idea. A lot of times, the models have a general idea of what is coming, but are rush things along too quickly. That appears to be the case for next week.
While we will see a couple of systems working across the region during the week, the models are all targeting the end of the week into next weekend for a cool and damp system. Here’s the GFS…
That’s a heck of a shot of chilly air to follow a potent storm system. The Canadian Model shows a similar storm and the chilly behind it…
The longer range GFS has been advertising another big shot of chilly air a few days after that one…
As always… we shall see.
Have a great day and take care.
Does this mean snow???
Remember, this is Kentucky. It means cold rain.
In Madison County, at least my part, it means nothing.
Thanks for your diligence on this site Chris. You know your ‘stuph’!
