Good Friday, weather weenies. The weather has been nothing short of amazing and that amazing stuff is with us as we kickoff the weekend. All good things must come to an end and a cold front will prove that to be true by Sunday. In the words of Arsenio Hall… Let’s Get Busy!
Highs today will be in the upper 70s to around 80. Parts of southern and eastern Kentucky will be cooler as low clouds and fog take longer to burn off.
Saturday looks equally as nice with highs close to 80 on a gusty southwesterly wind. Those winds are ahead of a cold front that moves in for Sunday. This will bring a line of showers across the state…
Temps on Sunday should stay in the 60s for a lot of folks and that may be the case again for Monday. Low level moisture looks to hang around for much of next week. That should lead to a daily threat of showers and thunderstorms…![]()
The models continue to point toward a big storm system late next week into the following weekend. The European Model shows a mega trough…
Taken verbatim… that could bring snow to the midwest and western Great Lakes.
The GFS doesn’t have the phased look, but has a pretty good system…
Enjoy your Friday and take care.
I’m getting so excited for winter!! I love snow. I wonder when we’ll have a frost?
NWS is forecasting around 80 (or about 5 degrees) above normal for the first four days of October. This follows a slightly above normal September. I’m hoping the pattern change these models are showing comes to fruition.
On a side note, I had already had a very light frost by this time in Lawrenceburg, but we know how the winter panned out.
Thanks, Chris. Have been reading but not able to post. It is sounding like Fall is a bout to take over. When are you predicting the first frost? The way that trough looks for next weekend, it can’t be too far away.
Love this time of year. Of course, I love something about all the seasons, as they all have their own unique personalities.
Do want to pose a question though….saw pics of wooly worms on your Twitter feed, showing black on both ends and brown in the middle. All the ones we have seen here are black from end to end. Does their color vary with what kind of temps are expected in that particular area, or is that just a coincidence? Just wondering.
Have a GREAT rest of your Friday, everyone. Thanks again Chris for all you do.
