Just remember this is ONLY through Christmas Night. Us here in Eastern KY will see the upslope on top of these amounts. I will see up to 4″ for Christmas Day only. Im happy.
Models for the year has not been accurate to this point, this is overstated! Snowdome over Lexington will give us no more than 2 inches!

Just saying, models this year have not produced in Lex expected amounts. My brother from Omaha is monitoring is visiting, and believes it will be light snow shower event. I hope he is wrong, but this has been what we have seen during this course of our winter season over the last 30 years.
I would LOVE to see 6 to 8 inches in Shelby County!
Who wouldn’t like the NAM, but keep this in mind. It usually provides too much moisture. Still, this is quite an improvement from last night when we were playing taps for this storm.

Ok, so I have been quiet this year. Watching from the sidelines, models show plenty of snow, models fade out (Louisville area). This update…well let’s just say I can’t repeat what came after ‘HOLY’ when I saw it:) I still DO believe in Santa! And I still DO believe that one day…maybe SOON…we WILL have another big snow:)
Besides all that, thanks so much Chris…love your site! You and Belski taught me so very much about models, etc… I owe ya!

0z gfs has a little more moisture. A couple more northerly shifts and we have a good little snow storm.
Still in the same 2 inch range…Was/Still hopin’ for around 6-8 range…
I just took a quick look at the gfs the ohio river valley is in real good shape(lot of dark green). It appears it is in the same nam ballpark.

With the new GFS that came out, Southeastern KY is going to get drilled now. Lets see what the EURO has to say next.
New GFS places a nice snow for most of Kentucky, but potentially heavy snow in south east Kentucky.

my son starts back to school on 1/3/11 do you think the sidewalks will be cleared of snow by then? And what type of clothing should he wear, god knows I cannot figure that out myself. That is why I turned to my fellow bloggers to answer these ridiculous questions.

My thoughts exactly. Remember the totals that the NAM was spitting out with the last storm? The NAM is typically reliable within 24 hours of an event. There will be more flip-flopping…pass the waffles please.

The Euro is sticking with it’s low way out in the gulf. The euro is typically only reliable in long and midway ranges. The GFS and NAM are both showing very very similar runs taking the low much farther north.
