Good Thursday, everyone. Our bitterly cold pattern continues to throw life-threatening weather into Kentucky and surrounding areas. This next round of brutal cold will be ushered in by a light snow maker that can turn into something more for southeastern Kentucky.

Clouds increase out there today as the first system arrives from the west overnight into early Friday. This has a stripe of light accumulating snow along and north of the track from northwest to southeast across the state. That’s followed by the upper low dropping in here Friday night into Saturday. That leads to snow showers and snow squalls with the potential for enhanced moisture coming at us from Lake Michigan and Lake Erie.

As all of this is happening, a major low spins up off the Carolina coast, leading to a major snow storm for the Mid-Atlantic states. That may even turn into a blizzard.

Here’s the GFS with all this…

In terms of potential snowfall, the GFS is the most generous with snow amounts (stop me if you’ve heard this one before)…

That would be winter storm criteria in the far southeast. While not as generous with the snows back into central Kentucky, the Canadian is also spitting out winter storm warning snows in the far southeast…

The EURO sees the snow streak back into central Kentucky and has some hefty totals in the southeast…

Another light snow system tries to zip through on Monday with the possibility of a few more snow systems following that up next week. Here’s the EURO…

And the Canadian…

That’s a continuation of this winter pattern into the first week of February.

The EURO Weeklies have been showing that for a while now and they continue to beat the drum on a locked and loaded winter pattern through early March. This looks like a coast to coast cold and stormy pattern…

This continues into the first week of March…

This is well above normal snowfall showing up on the weeklies during this time…

Updates come your way later today. I’ll also have updates on my Meteorologist Chris Bailey Facebook Page

Until then, here are your tracking tools for the day…
