Good Wednesday to one and all. We have another winner of a weather day with awesome air hanging around for a few more days. This is ahead of another stormy setup that will bring rounds of strong storms and heavy rain to the region, likely causing more issues.
Temps today start in the 50s and end in the upper 70s to low 80s. Skies will be partly sunny.
Thursday is mainly dry with temps in the 80s as more clouds filter in ahead of a boundary working toward the region. This boundary looks to get into the region and slow down on Friday, lingering through the upcoming weekend. The end result will be those waves of thunderstorms…
The forecast models are seeing the waves of big storms and heavy rains but bounce around from run to run on exactly where they go, and that’s to be expected. Here’s a look at the GFS from Thursday evening through Monday…
We want no part of what that run is showing in terms of repeat storms putting down torrential rains over the same areas…
The EURO is lighter, but is still showing enough rain to cause flooding issues…
The Weather Prediction Center has been slow to focus on this event. Here’s what they’re showing for the Excessive Rainfall Outlook for Friday and Saturday…

We will still watch for some storms dropping in from the northwest to end June and into that 4th of July holiday weekend. This action is on the leading edge of some big summer heat that just takes a stab at us.
The overall setup for early July is one of a retrograding pattern across North America at 500mb. Watch how the overall progression shifts everything west on this animation that runs from July through July 9…
Notice how that heat ridge backs to the west with that trough coming back into the east.
As always, I leave you with your daily tracking toys…

Thanks Chris. I have no complaints about the Summer weather. One would expect though that the heat and humidity will be arriving soon, but as the model you displayed shows the ridge moves back west, with the more comfortable temperatures returning. Hoping we will have some showers down my way, as it is beginning another drying trend.
