Good Sunday to one and all. Toasty temps are pushing into Kentucky today and will take control for the week ahead. Temps will be flat out hot to begin September with the chance for some storms creeping in for Labor Day Weekend.
I have no changes to the forecast through Thursday…
This is not unprecedented by any means and has happened numerous times for early September. Still, that shouldn’t take away from the heat so slow down and take lots of breaks if you have to be outdoors for an extended period of time in the coming days.
There’s the small threat for a storm or two to go up, but much of this time is dry and hot.

The National Hurricane Center is now raising the potential of what I’ve been talking about for days as this system may try to refire into the Caribbean or Gulf. The NHC is highlighting this and another potential system ahead of it…
We shall see what, if anything, comes from that, but we are likely to see some thunderstorms dropping in here by Friday into the start of the weekend. The GFS AI brings a breath of fresh air in for the Labor Day weekend with reinforcements arriving a few days later…

Again, those will help shape some of the overall pattern.
As we get closer to the start of Meteorological Fall on Tuesday, it’s looking like Mother Nature may take us to another extreme. Our Spring was incredibly dry ahead of one of the wettest summers ever recorded. Now things may very well turn dry again through early October. The Euro Weeklies are indicating below normal rainfall in our region…
On the flip side, they’re also sowin above normal temps…
We should keep in mind the models are all struggling and that goes for the seasonal models, too. As usual, a grain of salt should be taken with those model runs.
