Good Monday, everyone. We are about to FINALLY end this massive September heat wave and usher in a more typical late September pattern. This pattern brings cooler than normal to normal temps in here starting Tuesday. The setup will also feature some rain chances this week.
As normal, we begin with what’s going on out there today.
The front is dropping through the state from the north and northwest. Temps will be in the 80s for many with low 90s in the south and southwest once again. Temps in the far north likely stay in the 70s as we will be behind this boundary pretty early on today.
Only some scattered showers and storms will show up along this front with the greatest potential in the east and southeast. There’s even the risk for a few strong to severe storms this afternoon and evening.
The Storm Prediction Center has a Marginal Risk to Slight Risk out for this part of the state…
Temps drop from north to south behind this boundary that checks up just to our south. Low pressure develops along it and slowly moves across the southern Appalachian Mountains. This will bring some spiraling bands of showers and some thunder in here from tonight through Wednesday night.

Daytime temps generally top out in the low and mid 70s starting Tuesday. Areas that have more clouds and showers may not get out of the 60s on any given day.
Lows are mainly in the 50s until we get to Friday into the weekend when some upper 40s may show as skies clear up. Check out the lows from Friday through Sunday…
