A Strong Fall Cold Front Arrives Friday

Good Wednesday to one and all. The month of September is wrapping up on a windy and seasonably warm note with October opening up on a similar note. But a strong fall cold front takes care of all that as it blasts the Bluegrass State on Friday.

Temps out there today reach 80-85 in many areas as southwest winds begin to gust up. Those winds really gust up Thursday and Thursday night and may top 30mph at times…

That wind will boost temps well into the 80s for Thursday.

We will see a fair number of clouds around as we track a cold front in for Friday. This will bring showers and a few storms as it crosses the state from northwest to southeast a little faster than I was originally thinking. Temps will also drop into the 60s from north to south with high temps happening before Noon in many cases.emp

That boundary then slows down just to our south with a southern low rolling along it, throwing some rain and clouds back into the Commonwealth. The extent of that rain for Saturday and Sunday is in question as the models continue to go struggle with the track of that low.

Temps on Saturday will be on the chilly side if clouds and rain are locked in where you live. Readings in these areas may not get out of the upper 50s/low 60s while areas without rain reach the upper 60s and low 70s…

Sunday will have a bit of a bounce back into the 70s ahead of another cold front dropping in. This brings some real deal fall chill with our first chance for frost showing up by Monday night with lows dropping into the mid and upper 30s…
